How we score
Every number on this site can be checked. Here is exactly how they are made.
Five criteria
Each game gets five scores out of 100. The final score is their weighted average, rounded to a whole number. No hidden adjustments, and nobody can pay for a score.
How well made it is: design, writing, polish.
How enjoyable it is minute to minute.
How quickly a typical player gets into it.
How long it keeps you coming back.
What you get for the US list price.
Example: Hades II
- Craft 25%
- 94
- Fun 25%
- 96
- Easy to love 15%
- 86
- Lasting value 20%
- 96
- Value 15%
- 96
94 × 25% + 96 × 25% + 86 × 15% + 96 × 20% + 96 × 15% = 94.00 → 94
Tiers
90+
A safe buy for almost any player.
88+
Safe to buy if the genre suits you.
80+
Excellent, with one or two caveats.
< 80
Only for specific tastes.
Hype vs facts
Every review includes the Lens: one line for what a game is famous for and one for what you actually get, including the downsides. It is separate from the score.
The facts
Release dates, developers, publishers, player counts, cross-play, US list prices and Steam Deck ratings come from Steam as of 20 Oct 2026. Difficulty and playtime are editorial estimates.
Independence
We only cover games sold on Steam. No publisher can buy a score, a position or a place on a game-night list. Store links are plain links to Steam.
